Microsoft Office 2016 can be obtained for purchase from Microsoft online as well as major stores and third parties. After you make the purchase, whether it’s an Office 365 subscription for any large office or a single user license, you’ll need to download what you’ve purchased and do the installation. If you’re uncomfortable with downloading software don’t worry, listed here are the exact steps you’ll need to follow to install Microsoft Office on any Windows laptop, computer, or tablet.
01
Locate the Download Page and also the Activation Key
After you purchase Microsoft Office you’ll be expected to navigate to a website to download the merchandise. That download link will be included in the packaging if you purchase the software in a store or order it from somewhere like Amazon. If you make an online purchase from Microsoft, you might get the link within an email. If you don’t receive that email (I didn’t), you’ll have to log on to your Microsoft account and appearance your order status. As you can tell within the picture here, there’s an Install Office link on the receipt. Click Install Office.
The Product Key (or activation code) is yet another bit of the installation process and is what lets Microsoft know you bought the software legally. That key will come with any physical packaging you receive, and will also be included in an email should you ordered digitally. Should you purchased the software directly from Microsoft, after you click the Install link as shown earlier, the important thing can look on screen and you’ll be prompted to copy it. If that’s the case, click Copy. Whatever the case, write down the key and keep it in a rut. You’ll require it should you ever need to reinstall Microsoft Office.
02
Visit the Install Page and Locate your Product ID
After clicking Install Office there are three more steps to completing the Microsoft Office install: Register with your Microsoft Account, enter your product key, and obtain Office.
Here’s how to get started:
Click Sign In.
Enter your Microsoft ID and click Register.
Enter your password and click Enter on the keyboard.
If prompted, enter your Product ID.
03
Obtain the Installation Files
Once your Microsoft ID and Product Key are verified you’ll have access to another Install button. If you notice this button, click Install. What goes on next depends on what web browser you’re using.
The simplest way to install Microsoft Office is to use the Edge browser. Whenever you click Install inside this browser Run is an option. All you have to do is click Run and work through the installation process outlined in the next section.
If you aren’t using the Edge browser you’ll need to save the file to your computer, laptop, or tablet, and then locate that file and click on (or double-click) it to start cellular phone process. The files will be available in the Downloads folder and from a designated part of the internet browser you’re using. In Firefox downloaded files can be found in the top end of the browser under the arrow, as well as in Chrome it’s the bottom left. Locate the downloaded file before continuing.
04
Install Microsoft Office
If you downloaded the file, locate the file and click on or double-click it to begin the download and installation process. Should you clicked Run, this method starts automatically. Then:
If prompted, click Yes to allow the installation.
If prompted, click Yes to close any open programs.
Wait as the process completes.
Click Close.
That’s it, Microsoft Office has become installed and able to use. Note that you may be prompted later to install updates to Office, and if so, allow those updates.
